Touchscreen Test

Max touch points reported by your device: - · Fingers down now: 0

Touch and drag across the whole canvas with one or more fingers. Any gaps in the drawn lines suggest a dead zone.

Touchscreen not responding properly?

  • Clean and dry the screen and your fingers. Moisture and grease cause ghost touches.
  • Remove the screen protector or case edge if touches fail near the borders.
  • Restart the device to clear software glitches, then re-test.
  • Gaps in a drawn line that do not clear after cleaning point to a hardware fault in the digitizer.

How this touchscreen test works

The page tracks every finger that touches the drawing area and draws a coloured line for each one as it moves. It also reads how many simultaneous touch points your device says it supports, and shows how many fingers are down at any moment. A healthy screen draws a continuous, smooth line wherever you drag.

How to test for dead zones

  1. Drag a finger slowly across the whole drawing area in rows, from top to bottom.
  2. Look for gaps, broken lines or places where the line jumps. Those point to dead or unresponsive zones.
  3. Use several fingers at once to check multi-touch. Most phones and tablets support 5 to 10 touch points.
  4. Test the edges and corners, where screen protectors and cases most often cause problems.

Common causes of bad touch response

Moisture, greasy fingers and dirt are the most common culprits, so clean the screen and dry your hands first. A cracked screen or a thick or poorly fitted screen protector can also create dead areas. If the problem stays after cleaning and a restart, the screen's touch layer may be failing and need repair.

Check the display too

A damaged screen often has display faults as well as touch faults. Run the dead pixel test or the phone screen test to check the picture quality.

Frequently asked questions

How many touch points should my screen support?

Most phones and tablets support 5 to 10. The number shown above is what your device reports to the browser.

Why doesn't it work on my desktop monitor?

Only touchscreen devices send touch input. A normal mouse will draw one line at a time.

Is anything saved?

No. The drawing exists only on your screen and disappears when you leave.
